UNIVERSITY OF WATERLOO MARCH ACTIVITIES

My name is Malak Sameh and I am the Student Engagement Coordinator at GreenHouse. We run a social impact incubator at the University of Waterloo that helps students make a social and environmental impact in their communities. I am reaching out regarding two upcoming opportunities open to senior high school students.

We have a program called Changemaker Labs that brings youth (ages 15-30) together to design solutions to campus and community based environmental challenges.

This March, we are hosting two activities:

  • Tech for Good – design sprint. Runs Thursdays from March 7 to 28 from 4-6PM in person at GreenHouse. In small groups, students will use design thinking principles to develop technology-based solutions for pressing campus and community challenges. We provide weekly facilitators to support their journey to use tech for good! Register
  • Women in Engineering – hackathon. Runs all day Saturday March 16 (plus 2 hour prep session March 12) in Engineering building 7 at University of Waterloo. Participants will weave together human-centered design with engineering knowledge to develop innovative solutions! Tools and training provided. Cash prize for the winning team! Open to grade 11 & 12 women and non-binary students interested in engineering. Register

If your students are interested in participating they can learn more and sign up here: Register your spot!.
