| This course teaches students how to develop and achieve personal goals for future learning, work, and community involvement. Students will assess their interests, skills, and characteristics and investigate current economic and workplace trends,work opportunities, and ways to search for work. The course explores postsecondary learning and career options, prepares students for managing work and life transitions, and helps students focus on their goals through the development of a career plan. | ||

| This course focuses on learning strategies to help students become better, more independent learners. Students will learn how to develop and apply literacy and numeracy skills, personal management skills, and interpersonal and teamwork skills to improve their learning and achievement in school, the workplace, and the community. The course helps students build confidence and motivation to pursue opportunities for success in secondary school and beyond. | ||

| This course prepares students to act in leadership and peer support roles. They will design and implement a plan for contributing to their school and/or community; develop skills in communication, interpersonal relations, teamwork, and conflict management; and apply those skills in leadership and/or peer support roles – for example, as a student council member or a peer tutor. Students will examine group dynamics and learn the value of diversity within groups and communities. | ||

| Interdisciplinary Studies in Leadership | IDC4UI | |
| This course will help students combine the knowledge and skills from different subjects and disciplines related to the study of leadership. Through individual and collaborative inquiry and research, students will analyse the connections among diverse subjects and disciplines; develop information literacy skills in analysing, selecting, evaluating, and communicating information; and become aware of a variety of resources and viewpoints on leadership issues. They will also examine their own learning styles, relate their inquiries and research to real-life situations, and investigate leadership opportunities. This course will introduce students to leadership theories as they pursue leadership roles in the school and community. Students will study and apply theory in developing skills in the areas of conflict resolution, planning and goal setting, problem solving, group dynamics and teamwork. Students will develop the skills and knowledge to support them in pursuing a variety of leadership roles. Participation in school leadership opportunities in the form of Student Council , Link Crew and additional student led initiatives and activities, will be the primary application of these skills. Students will participate in an application and interview process for acceptance into this course. |
