Welcome to Cooperative Education – the best experiential learning that you can acquire!
Cooperative Education (Co-op) is a program that allows Grade 11 and 12 students to earn credits upon completion of a work placement in the community. The in-school portion and the work placement allow students to gain valuable learning experiences that help prepare them for post-secondary life, at College or University, Apprenticeship training or direct entry to the workplace. Co-op placements are arranged by Co-op teachers and follow Ministry of Education policies.
As the quote from Confucius says:
“Hear and I forget, see and I remember, do and I understand.”
Options include:
-
- Regular Co-op for grade 11 or 12 (Course Code COOP11 or COOP12)
- Summer Co-op (SUCO11 or SUCO12)
- as well as a range of specialized programs including UCEP, CCEP, Dual-Credit Programs and more
Note that any co-op placement in a skilled-trade area will automatically enroll the student in OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program)
