Grad Awards

The following awards have, in the past, been presented during the graduation ceremony. This list will be updated throughout the school year. Note that some of the awards involve an application process.

Awards with a Special Application Process:

Celtic Honour D Award Presented to students who have been involved in many aspects of high school life.  Application available in guidance in spring.
St. Agnes CWL Christian Leadership Award Presented to a graduating student who has displayed an active involvement in the parish. Check the parish bulletin for details.
St. Boniface Parish Award Presented to a former St. Boniface student who is pursuing post-secondary education.

St. David School Council Scholarship Presented to a student who has achieved high academic achievement, involved in extra curricular activities, demonstrates leadership and service to the community and their faith.
Waterloo Catholic Schools Foundation – Awards of Distinction:

Presented to graduates who demonstrate exemplary performance in one or more of the award categories through academic achievement and participation in extra-curricular school activities. 2016 Application Form

Awards determined by staff based on specific criteria (no application process):

Lieutenant Governors Community Volunteer Award for Students Presented to a student for exemplary community contribution or outstanding achievement through volunteer activity
Aramark Experiential Award Presented to a student pursuing a career in the Culinary Arts and demonstrates a high degree of competence in the Culinary Arts.
Rotary Club of Waterloo Presented to a student who has excellent academics and demonstrates service above self at school and in the community.
Canadian Federation of University Women Dr. Mabel B. Dunham Presented to the female with the highest academic average in 6 university level courses.
St. Vincent de Paul Society Presented to a student who has demonstrated exemplary volunteerism in the area of poverty.
Canadian Federation of University Women – Edna Haviland Chemistry Award Presented to the female student with the highest average in grade 12 University level Chemistry.
Waterloo County School Bus Operators Association Award Presented to a student who has demonstrated good academic and or personal achievement and is held in high regard by staff and peers.
The R.J. McCarthy Scholarship Presented to the student who has made significant contribution to the quality of student life and whose character and accomplishments exemplify the mission of the school
The Kinsmen Award Presented to a student continuing with post-secondary education for academic achievement, involvement in extra-curricular activities and exemplary community service.
The Paul Horgan Memorial Award Presented to a graduate who is studying mathematics at the college level and has shown great improvement through perseverance and hard work.
The Dan Cardillo Memorial Award Presented to a student who embraces life, sees each day as a new beginning and presents a positive outlook which adds joy to the lives of others.
The Scott Weiler Memorial Award Presented to a student who shows compassion, strong commitment, perseverance and lives a spiritual and faith filled life.
The Tim Rose Memorial Award Presented to a student who possesses an extraordinary enthusiasm for life, takes time for everyone and values family, friends and the school community.
Diocese of Hamilton Award Presented to a student who is involved in the spiritual life of the school and exemplifies the Catholic Faith.
Lakeshore Optomist Club Presented to a resident of the Lakeshore district who has demonstrated leadership and good citizenship and is involved in their school. And community.
OYAP Student Recognition Awards Presented to students who have demonstrated outstanding effort in Auto Co op placement and Motive Power or Truck and Coach in school courses.
The Congregation of the Resurrection Bursary Award Presented to a student who embodied the Gospel tenants in their home, school and parish.
The Governor General Academic Medal Presented to the student with highest academic standing in their senior courses.
CEFO Catholic Student Award Presented to a graduate who exemplifies leadership in social justice and typifies the objectives of a Catholic school.
Sensational Celtic Award Presented to a student who contributes to the school in co-curricular programs, leads by example and encourages others.
The Catholic Community Foundation of Waterloo Region Award Presented to two graduates who have demonstrated exceptional effort and personal achievement.
Celtic Unsung Hero Award Presented to a student who works quietly behind the scenes on a broad spectrum of school activities without expecting anything in return.
WCDS Board of Trustees – Student Excellence Awards (U/C/W) Presented to a University bound student, a College bound student and a student bound for the World of Work who have demonstrated student excellence based on criteria that includes the OCGE.
The Record Top Students Presented to two students who excel in academics, and leadership involvement within the school and the wider community.
